Champaign County State’s Attorney Julia Rietz said that the shooting stemmed from an argument that began over a spilled drink at a party inside a Green St. apartment.

The argument spilled outside and when a friend of the suspect was attacked by other party-goers. Patton allegedly got agitated by the fight and chased after those who attacked the man. He’s alleged to have fired a gun in their direction, striking and killing 22 year-old George Korchev, of Mundelein who was a bystander.
