FRIDAY
• Champaign: Civil War reenactment; 200 block of West Park Avenue; 4 to 6:30 p.m.; free.
• Danville: fireworks, Gao Grotto, 2400 Denmark Road; dusk.
• Hoopeston: fireworks, Hoopeston Youth Soccer Fields, off Illinois 9; 9 p.m.
• Monticello: Freedom Fest, Lodge Park; food vendors, kids' games, bounce house open at 4 p.m.; water sluice, 5:30 p.m.; fireworks, dusk.
• Paxton: Paxton-Buckley-Loda Choral Booster Club Talent Show, 6:30 p.m.
• Tuscola: Sparks in the Park, live music starting at 2; 3-on-3 tournament, 4 to 7 p.m.; fireworks, 9 p.m.
SATURDAY
• Arthur: parade from Jurgens Park through downtown, 10 a.m.
• Champaign County Freedom Celebration: 9:30a registration youth run and 5K race-walk; east side of Assembly Hall on Fourth Street, Champaign; no charge for youth run, $20 for 5K. Parade at 1:05, Lincoln to Florida Avenue to First Street. music and fireworks, Dodds Park, Parkland College, near Mattis and Bradley avenues, Champaign. Details and traffic info.
• Danville: American Legion Post 210, 201 Prospect Place (West Jackson Street); breakfast, 8 to 11:30 a.m.; Little League baseball, 11 a.m.; cake walk and concessions, 1 p.m.; karaoke, 7 p.m.; fireworks, dusk.
• Danville: fifth annual parade; starts at 500 block of Chester Avenue off of North Vermilion Street and ends at East Road and North Cedarwood; 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
• Danville: Thunder Over Lake Vermilion; Danville Boat Club, 15750 Boat Club Road, off Denmark Road; $5 for admission to club house and grounds, free for children younger than 10; pig roast buffet dinner open to the public, 5 to 7 p.m., $8; Ben Jenkins Band, 5 to 9 p.m.; fireworks, 9:45 p.m. (rain date Sunday); boaters asked to stay at least 300 feet from the launch site and 100 feet from the barge.
• Hammond: pancake breakfast at the firehouse 6-10am; parade at noon; kids games at 1pm; community softball game at 4pm. Pork chop dinner at 5 at the Methodist church; fireworks at dusk.
• Homer: Homer Park, downtown and Village Hall; live music, inflatables, karaoke, games, parade, food and fireworks; carTunes summer band concert; Village Park, east end of Mary Street, noon, free.
• LeRoy: kids' parade for ages 12 and younger; LeRoy High School football field; 6 p.m.
• Mahomet: Freedom Fest; Lake of the Woods, north of town; boat rentals, 1 p.m.; food vendors and kids' activities, 3 p.m.; Music in Motion, 5 p.m.; tribute to military and fireworks, 9 p.m.; $1 per person with children 5 and younger, free; rain date Sunday.
• Mattoon: parade, 9 a.m.
• Oakwood: pancake and sausage breakfast, 6 a.m., donation; parade with Brian Obenland of Obenland DI & Son Earth Moving as grand marshal, 11 a.m.; Carle emergency rescue helicopter fly-in, 7 to 7:30 p.m.; fireworks, dusk (only elderly and disabled allowed to park in the park).
• Paxton: 5K run/walk and 1-mile run/walk, Pells Park, 8 a.m.
• Paxton: breakfast, American Legion, East Pells Street, 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
• Paxton: events at Pells Park include flea market opening, 9 a.m.; antique tractor show, 10 a.m.; local artisans, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; music and assembly at playground for children's parade and children's games, 11:30 a.m.; bean bag tournament, crafts, horseshoe tournament, food and pizza contest, car show judging, noon; ABATE motorcycle show and children's games, noon to 3 p.m.
• Paxton: fireworks, Memorial Field, 9 p.m.
• Rantoul: 5K Freedom Run; Rantoul Aquatics Center, 320 W. Flessner, Rantoul; 8 a.m. with packet pickup between 7 and 7:45 a.m.; Parade, Maplewood Drive to U.S. 136 to Grove Street, 10 a.m; games, music, food; Wabash Park, noon start. splash party, Aquatics Center, 7 p.m.; fireworks, airport, dusk.
• Rossville: parade, downtown, 10 a.m.; water slide, Rossville Area Fire Department, noon to 4 p.m.; Dixie Duck Dash down North Fork River, 4:30 p.m.; fireworks, Christman Park, dusk.
• Tuscola: American Legion pancake breakfast, south pavilion, 6:30 to 10 a.m., Boy Scouts flag raising, North Park, 9 a.m.; mud volleyball, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with registration at 11 a.m.; parade, South Park, 10 a.m.; kid zone, south diamond, noon to 6 p.m; X Krush Band, main stage, noon to 4 p.m.; Captain Rat Band, 6 to 9 p.m.; Feuding Hillbillies, 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
