ST. LOUIS (AP) — Lots of folks celebrate baseball’s opening day. Now, Budweiser wants to make opening day a national holiday.

Baseball’s official brew has started an online petition drive to declare the start of the Major League Baseball season a day of national observance.

The idea is to collect 100,000 online signatures on the White House website. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Cardinals great Ozzie Smith is leading the promotion.
